55 – Purebred PIGEON

“PIGEONS INTHEMEADOW”

By M. Frank Cook

An outstanding newly surfaced work of art by America’s most revered pigeon artist, M. Frank Cook.

Titled “Pigeons in the Meadow” circa 1909.

A splendid array of birds created in classic Frank Cook style with a farm house, barns and dove cote in

a pastoral setting. In the distance two spectators stand at the house watching as their flock’s fly overhead,

looking to forage in the meadow.

This work of art is large in size measuring 3’ x 4’. Surviving in remarkable pristine condition, it is argu-

ably the finest Frank Cook painting to surface in gouache/pastel combination. At the time it was created,

Frank Cook was actively breeding all 19 breeds portrayed in this painting. Leaving little doubt that this

work of art might have been one of his personal paintings.

Provenance – Purchased in 1980 at a gallery in New York State by an Art Professor, kept in their pos-

session for over forty years.

Presently in the collection of Eric L Kooker - Conserving America’s Greatest Pigeon Treasures

Editor’s Note: My apologies to Eric Kooker. This article should have been included in the

September/October 2022 issue which featured this lovely Cook painting on the cover
