West of England Tumblers – Page 22 – Purebred PIGEON

Breed of the Issue - West of England Tumblers

50Years of the

NationalWest ofEnglandTumblerClub

By Josh Zilles - NWOETC President

T

his year marks the 50

th

Anniversary of the National

West of England Tumbler Club. This is a milestone

marker and a big achievement for a specialty club. We

are very grateful for those founding members of our club and

the current members that help to keep our club up and going.

The National West of England Tumbler Club has helped to

support its members and the breed over the last 50 years and

there are a few things that set this club and breed apart from

all the other clubs and breeds.

First, the West of England Tumbler is a beautiful breed

of pigeon that comes in all colors of good quality. Each color

is vibrant and really stands out from colors in other breeds.

The West of England Tumbler is also a breed that raises it own

young and are good parents.

Second, the members in this club and breed make a

difference. There is no other club in the United States that has

as good comradery as our club. When I was a new breeder to

the club, I had some poor to average quality West of England

Tumblers. Shortly after joining the club, I met Matt Matuska.

He took me under his wing and helped me to get a few pair of

high-quality West of England Tumblers. These are the kind of

things that make a big difference. Every club member that I

know of has helped each other and especially new members to

obtain high quality breeders for the next year. Each time the

National West of England Tumbler Club has a meet and gets

together, it is like a family reunion. We each get to catch up,

swap stories, and swap birds to help each other improve our

own family of birds.

This club has become a family that is always welcoming

new members and helping them get started in the West of

England Tumbler Family. We are always looking out for one

another and a win for one is a win for all. There is tight compe-

tition and amazing comradery and that is what sets the West

of England Tumbler and the National West of England Tumbler

Club apart from all other clubs.

We send out an invite to any interested to contact one of

our many members or a club officer so you can start breeding

one of the best breeds in the hobby. •
