Congratulations to the National West of England Tumbler Club
on their 50th Anniversary! As you will see in their feature, there is a
lot to love in the West breed – loads of colors, good fertility, great par-
enting skills and an active and energetic club willing to help you get
started or make the leap to new colors or more competitive breeding
stock. Thanks to Jay Turner for spearheading this feature!
On a somewhat somber note, as pigeon fanciers I feel we have
really had to learn to “roll with the punches” and it seems they just
keep coming. First we heard the National was canceled due to Avian
Flu – so many of us diverted out attention to other shows including
the Iowa State Pigeon Association’s Pigeons on the Prairie in Des
Moines. It sounded like it was going to be a fantastic show with over
40 breeds holding specialty meets. Well, the Avian Flu went there as
well and they had to cancel as well. I believe some of the Canadian
show have been impacted, too. But Pigeon Fanciers are a tough bunch
and I know we will come through this intact!
There are still shows to enter.
Please go to the Events Calen-
dar and you will see many shows still available. I plan on being at two
of them and possibly more.
Hope you enjoy the issue!
