birds. I wish I could have the
birds I had back then. Oh, how
I miss my cream bar balds.
Later in the 1980s we
were planning on our Wests
showing with the Reading
Pigeon Club in Pennsylvania.
Another West breeder that
I met through Bill was Jerry
Price who had contact with
Jim Krebaum, Sr. Jim had
shipped a box of Wests to the
show to be shown, and then
sold, to support the National
West Club and the breed. I
was then asked to judge the
Wests!!!
Yahoo!! Amazing mem-
ories. As a gift for judging, I
was given choice pick of one
pair of those Wests that were
donated by Jim Krebaum Sr. I
remember them well. I picked
a pair of black reduced. I was
working with genetics back
then, but had no experience
with reduced. So I got my
start right then.
That experience of
judging was monumental for
me. Being in the spotlight,
handling every bird, and
Cussick’s West of Englands from the 1980s
