Purebred Pigeon Sept/October 2025

47 – Purebred PIGEON Don Buhr Passed away April 26th, found in his Fantail loft. Don’s other interests were fishing and working with his apples and berries that he grew and sold at his local farmer’s market. Don was one of the three fanciers that started the Northeast Iowa Pigeon Club. Later, he helped to start the Tri-State Pigeon Club. He will be missed by all who new him. – Jim Brandt Remembering Mike Holton On June 2, 2025, our Portuguese Tumbler Club of America and our pigeon hobby lost another dedicated fancier. Mike Holton. Mike lived in Stewartville, Minnesota with his loving and devoted wife Sara. Those in the hobby that knew Mike would know he tackled several health issues over the past number of years. In fact, for a period of time he had to step back from the hobby. But with the help of his wife Sara, it wasn’t too long before he was back raising champion Portuguese Tumblers. His latest wins included Champion Port at the 2024 National Young Bird Show and Champion Port at the 2024 Des Moines Iowa show. Both wins were with the same beautiful bird! Mike’s most recent contribution to our club was serving as Vice President although over the past years he served in other positions on our board of directors. Mike Holton, you will be missed in our club and our hobby. – Pat Stuart Mike and Sara Holton Mike with Jesse Dobelbower holding Mike’s winning Portuguese Tumbler - 2024 NYBS and ISPA Des Moines Champion
