45 – Purebred PIGEON SaddleMuffsat theOKCNational By Bob Witte The Olde Style Saddle Muffed Tumbler Club’s annual meet for 2024 was held this last January in Oklahoma City. Seventy one (71) Saddle Muffs were entered for one of the largest entries I have attended since 1953 – possibly the largest entry ever in this country. Kevin and Claudia Gum (President and Secretary/Treasurer of the club) were in charge of setting up and recording wins. Both are a credit to the club. As the judge of this entry, I found many well-marked birds at this annual show. The short, cobby, well-marked birds with a defined snip and whiskers, and clean under carriage seemed to place high in their respective color classes. Highlights of the show were Michael Coblentz winning Champion with a young red hen and a young black hen picked as Reserve Champion. Both winning birds had excellent type with dots about their eyes for “icing on the cake!” Barry Wilson and Kevin Gum were inducted to the OSSMTC Master Breeders Program. Both have had many Champions over the years. Barry started showing Saddles in the 1970’s and has held many offices in Tumbler clubs.
