Purebred Pigeon Sept/October 2025
44 – Purebred PIGEON By Al Graham I have raised Parlor Rollers for over 65 years. I got my first Parlors at 11 year of age and have had then ever since. Parlors have always been a lot of fun for me and still are! I went into the air force in 1966 and got out in 1970. I was a jet engine mechanic on B52s and KC135 tankers. While I ws gone my mother and brother took care of my birds. For many years I raised the Parlors in individual pens. I had 20 at one time. We rolled them mostly in the Fremont, Ohio area. Always had a great time. About 10 years ago my two sons and my oldest grandson built me two new coops. They are 4 feet by 8 feet with a divider in the middle. I keep three pairs in each section. The doors in front swing open for easy cleaning. I used shavings on the floor and straw for nesting. For nest boxes, I cut the big side off plastic kitty lit- ter boxes off and use a rubber nest bowl in each. This keeps the birds quiet so they stay on the nest. Don’t try to roll your young Parlors until they start flipping; try them inside at first. I have a video on Youtube titled Parlor Rollers - not all pigeons fly. It is on the MLive channel and has over 1 million views. Help the new fanciers because someone helped you!• Al Graham’s repurposed nest boxes Parlor Rollers - A Great Hobby!
