19 – Purebred PIGEON cage which made it a bit cramped for them but that didn’t stop them one bit as each pair is on its second round of babies and some starting on their third. As for history, there is definitely a lack of abundance detailing much about them. What I have been able to uncover is that the breed hails from the region of ‘Siebenburgen’ which was a German enclave in Romania. As for their introduction to the United States, I was able to discover that one of the original breeders actually smuggled the eggs into the country by lining them in his wife’s bra! It always makes me chuckle knowing that some of my birds come from that bloodline. The trail goes cold shortly after that so if there is anyone out there who breeds or has any further knowledge of the breed , please reach out. I’d love to know more about this great breed.
