9 – Purebred PIGEON It should be mentioned that the winner of the Bob Farley Memorial trophy for the Overall Show Champi- on was Justin Curl. Justin is a former junior exhibitor, now in his twenties, who is the youngest person to ever win the Farley Award. Congratulations Justin. A one-day show of this magnitude takes not only much advanced planning but coordinated teamwork. No one person can possi- bly fulfill and accomplish all the needs and aspects of a show of this size. However, as close to being such a person is club President Bill Griebel. Bill holds the unenviable task of general overseeer, the one who makes sure all the bases are covered. The crucial set up and tear down of some 200 show coops was accom- plished by Tom Monahan, Bill Griebel, Chet Edmunds, Frank Soto, Dennis Rogers, Jim Symington, Bobby Cor- rales and Mike Mertz. We were indeed lucky to have the attendance and photographic skills of Paul Bayani who took over 50 photos of the event. Some of the photos in this article are by Paul, also contributions by Kathie Johnson and Lynn Watson Receiving the entries and selling the lunch tickets were handled by Fred Maenpa and Kathie Johnson respectively. Kathie also provided advanced publicity with circulars, flyers, and posters atour local feed store, JEDDS Pigeon Supplies.Clint Messerschmidt Jr. should deserve credit for hauling, setting up, and taking down the large judging area. The Los Angeles Pigeon Club should feel a measure of pride in hosting a successful event of this magnitude. They truly fulfilled the task set forth by their founding fa- thers and required in their Constitution some 100 years ago. it was truly a young bird show that all can be proud of!!• Bob Farley Memorial Award - this year’s winner was Justin Curl for his Chinese Owl Dick Holmberg judged the 110 young English Trumpeters.
