4 – Purebred PIGEON Just recently I received an email from a longtime fancier that I knew from my Show Racer days. When I say “long- time” I mean it. Richard Brooks is 105 years old and wrote to tell me that he still enjoys the magazine. Due to some age-related infirmites he has had to give up his pigeons after 99 years of involvement in this hobby. Yes, he was 6 years old when he got his first pigeons. That’s the longet term I’ve heard of -- if you know of anyone that can top that, I’d love to hear about them! The shows are going very well this Fall. I’ve heard from several that their numbers are up from previous years which I take as a very positive sign. The National Young Bird Show had 800 more birds than their 2024 show! The next issue of Purebred will be primarily show cover- age. Please send in your photos and even a brief summary of your event -- of course, you are welcome to go into as much detail as you would like.! Thank you to the Chinese Owl Fanciers for their efforts on this issue’s feature. Beautiful birds and informative articles! Hope you enjoy the issue! From the Editor We need articles and advertisements to support our issues in 2026. This is your invitation to participate! SEVERAL ISSUES ARE AVAILABLE for Features/Specials!
